My parents encouraged me to look into luxury apartments in Mission Viejo seeing as how I was set to attend Saddleback College in a few months. I could have stayed home and lived with them, but my father thought it would be a good idea for me to get out on my own so I would get used to taking care of a household. It’s actually a pretty sound idea, and one most of my friends aren’t engaging in. They’re still trapped at home living in the same room they grew up in as children. That’s not going to happen to me.
The problem, as I saw it, was the word luxury. Luxury apartment living sounds expensive, and frankly impossible on the money I make with my part time job. My hours are likely to decrease once school starts too because I’ll be taking a full course load and will need to devote more time to studying. Fortunately, my parents offered to make up any difference in the rent. With that problem out of the way, we started looking for apartments. I needed something relatively close to the school and at least somewhat affordable even with my parents’ help.
We very quickly located a great place. They offer a studio apartment lease that is surprisingly affordable and, to me, surprisingly spacious. When I heard the words studio apartment, I pictured this closet sized space. It’s nothing like that at all. In fact, it’s about 525 square feet. That is plenty of room for all of my needs. My parents liked it as well and in no time at all we were signing the lease. I can’t wait to start school and be one of the few people who actually has their own apartment. I imagine that fact will make me quite popular with my fellow students!
